Baseline Testing

Information
NO CARE CAN COMPARE
Niles North is proud to offer free baseline concussion testing to all student athletes. The program is a user-friendly on-line computer based testing program specifically designed for the management of concussions. It measures multiple aspects of cognitive functioning in athletes, including: attention span, working memory, sustained and selective attention time, response variability, non-verbal problem solving, and reaction time.
We require every athlete to complete a baseline test so that we can establish what a healthy and normal score is for that athlete. In the event that an athlete does sustain a concussion, we can re-test them to objectively evaluate the concussed athlete's post-injury condition to track their recovery for safe return to play, thus preventing the cumulative effects of concussions.
When screening tools indicate possible cognitive concerns — or when patients have subjective memory complaints — the SWAY platform helps providers quickly and accurately assess cognitive function. With standard and customizable cognitive assessment batteries, support for multiple languages, and remote testing capabilities, the platform can help providers increase access to important cognitive care. We are very excited to have this neurocognitive testing to help in the evaluation process of head injuries.
